Featuring: 2013 UMass Amherst alum Peter Sacco founded Adelante Shoe Co. to prove the theory that economic development is best achieved by paying individuals over the Living Well Line. The company has created a methodology to define the relative cost of living well in Pastores, Guatemala, where it now pays shoemakers 50% above the market rate to handmake modern classic, leather shoes. The company operates without inventory and delivers made-to-order shoes direct to the end customer within 10 days of order.
